I have had a love for numbers since I was a young girl. This "love" led me to become a teacher of mathematics for Junior High and High School kids. I found after several years that I didn't enjoy teaching kids math very much. So, I left the teaching industry and moved back to Texas to help my mother run her quilt shop.
Since Aug. of 2022, I have been helping her manage the shops large inventory and customer relationships. I am able to use my love of teaching to teach people how to make quilts. I am able to use my math brain to write patterns. But, I have really enjoyed looking at all the business numbers that affect growth in the shop.
Profit margins, AOV, and balance sheets OH MY! I started my college career in accounting and switched to a straight math major. One of my favorite parts of the job is analyzing the data — things like profit margins, average order value, and more — and sharing it with my mom, who isn’t as fond of the numbers side. This passion for numbers is what led me to start this business: helping other entrepreneurs understand their financials and succeed.
As I look back, I realize I should have stuck with the accounting track. Now, I am back where I belong, working my own business as a bookkeeper.
